UCabs respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through ucabs.net, our enquiry and booking forms, and related call, email and WhatsApp communications; why we use it; when we share it; and the choices available to you.
1. Who we are
UCabs provides taxi booking, airport transfer, local travel, outstation travel and tour transportation services from Trivandrum and other service locations. In this policy, “UCabs”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the UCabs service operating this website.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you contact or use UCabs, we may collect:
- Contact details: your name, telephone number, email address and preferred communication method.
- Journey and booking details: pickup and drop locations, travel date and time, itinerary, passenger count, vehicle preference, flight or train details, and special instructions that you choose to provide.
- Communication details: messages and information you send through website forms, email, telephone or WhatsApp, including feedback and complaints.
- Billing and transaction details: invoice information, payment status and transaction references where applicable. If an online payment service is used, the payment provider processes card, bank or UPI credentials under its own privacy terms; UCabs does not need to store complete card credentials.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, timestamps, cookie identifiers and security logs.
- Location information: pickup and drop locations you provide and approximate location inferred from your IP address. We do not collect continuous device location through this website unless you expressly enable a feature that requires it.
Please do not submit Aadhaar, passport, medical or other sensitive information through an open enquiry form unless UCabs specifically requests it for a lawful and necessary purpose through an appropriate channel.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to:
- respond to enquiries and prepare quotations;
- confirm, manage and support taxi or tour bookings;
- coordinate the requested journey with drivers, vehicle owners, taxi operators or other relevant service partners;
- send booking confirmations, driver or vehicle details, pickup updates, invoices and other service communications;
- provide customer support and resolve complaints or disputes;
- protect customers, drivers and UCabs from fraud, misuse, security incidents and fake bookings;
- maintain business, accounting, tax and legal records;
- measure and improve our website, advertising and customer service; and
- send promotional messages only where permitted and with any consent required by applicable law.
4. Consent and your choices
When you submit an enquiry, request a quotation or make a booking, you authorize UCabs to use the information reasonably needed to respond and provide the requested service. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already completed and may limit our ability to provide a requested service.
You may opt out of promotional communications at any time using the unsubscribe method provided or by contacting UCabs. Essential booking and service messages may still be sent when necessary to complete or support your journey.
5. When we share information
UCabs shares personal data only when reasonably necessary, including with:
- the assigned driver, vehicle owner, taxi operator or relevant tour/service partner to fulfil your request;
- website hosting, email, form, communications, analytics, map, security, backup and payment-service providers acting for or supporting UCabs;
- WhatsApp, telephone, email or social-platform providers when you choose to communicate through those services;
- professional advisers, insurers, auditors or payment and fraud-prevention providers where required; and
- government bodies, courts, regulators or law-enforcement authorities when disclosure is required or permitted by law.
UCabs does not sell or rent customer personal data to third parties for their independent marketing.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for security and basic operation, remember preferences, measure website performance and understand how visitors use the site. Where a cookie-consent tool is shown, you can use it to manage non-essential cookies. You can also control cookies through your browser, although blocking some cookies may affect website functions.
7. Third-party services and links
The website may link to or use services such as Google Maps, analytics tools, WhatsApp, social networks and payment providers. These services may receive technical or account information when you use them and apply their own privacy policies. UCabs is not responsible for the privacy practices of an independent third-party website or application.
8. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described in this policy. Enquiry records that do not result in a booking may be retained for customer support, fraud prevention and reasonable follow-up. Booking, invoice, payment and complaint records may be retained longer where needed for accounting, tax, legal, insurance or dispute-resolution purposes. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete it or anonymize it.
9. Data security
UCabs uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access is limited to people and service providers who need the information for an authorized purpose. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask UCabs to:
- confirm whether we hold personal data about you;
- provide information about how it is being used;
- correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase data that is no longer required, subject to legal retention obligations;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- address a grievance about our use of your data; or
- recognize a nomination or other right available under applicable data-protection law.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. You may also use remedies available from the competent data-protection authority under applicable law.
11. Children’s privacy
UCabs does not knowingly invite children under 18 to make independent bookings or provide personal data without a parent or lawful guardian. A parent or guardian should make and manage a booking involving a child. If you believe a child has provided personal data improperly, please contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.
12. International processing
Some technology or communications providers may process information on servers located outside India. Where this occurs, UCabs will use the service in accordance with applicable law and take reasonable steps to require appropriate protection of personal data.
